4L80E and fitment in the F-body questions.
We finally got our SPOHN K-member this week which we have been waiting on so we can start fabrication of the turbo system. Also our Rodney built 4L80E is in our hands.
Last night we installed the K-member and mockup block and the 4L80E tranny. We had to trim one of the ears on the tranny bellhousing on the drivers side to get it closer to the installed height. It appears to me that the floor tunnel still needs modifying to make this work. I am looking for some advice from someone who has done the swap before I break the plasma cutter out! By looking at the engine block deck surface angle it looks like that even with the trans tight to the tunnel, it could use another 1" in raising the tailshaft. Plus you need clearance around it as well.
Any insight would be appreciated.

We had to massage the transmission tunnel a little with a hammer--didn't have to do any cutting other than the bellhousing ear you mentioned. It was a tight fit, however. Here is a good thread regarding this swap:

I put one in my 98 Z28 with out any tunnel mods. I wish I had taken some pics. I used a Yank Tranny x-member set up for the 4L80E.
My tranny was an 02 model also. I dont know if that makes a difference.
