Which converter for th350?
Hey, i'm switching from the 4L60E to a th350 and im wondering with the mods in the sig. what converter will be best a B&M nitrous holeshot or a TCI Breakaway w/ anti-ballooning plate this is a weekend driver and weekend racer on sat and sun. Basically i dont want that big of a converter so thats why i picked those smaller converters there both in 2,400-2,600 range but i want a good quality verter that will hold up to alot of racing! Oh ya and im going from 4.11s to 3.73s as well, cause i wont have enough gear for the track!

I already have low 1.5s with a stock converter, now when i had the 3,600 fuddle for the 4L60E it was only 1.6s because it blew through the converter to bad! Will the anti-ballooning plates take care of the slippnig with the N2O. The sliping is the only reason i was going with a smaller converter!

I'd go custom built again, just make sure they know it will be hit with nitrous. Fuddle didn't hit mine right on the head and it needs to be tightened up for nitrous but I think it's important to have it made for spray if that's what you want to do.
No way would I ever do a B&M or TCI catalog/off the shelf converter...NEVER.
Yank/Vig/NealChance/Fuddle/PTC/Edge custom.. Check them out and see what they say. Price will be $600-1000 for what you are doing but it can be made to spec.. Goodluck! I'd shoot for a 9.5-10" with 3000 stall. It will be tight a comfortable on the street, especially with no overdrive and it will be right in the TQ peak when you spray that beast...!

I agree both them converters are junk, I had a boss hog $275 3800/4200 converter that i ran with nitrous, and it didnt stall very much more that it did on the motor, so your converter was not right.

sounds like you are just pushing through your stock converter. it SHOULD loose efficiency big time.

Ya i probably am, i dont know much about trans and verter combos and thats prolly why i've had some bad luck with my setups, but this time i want it to be right so im getting info from yall and going by that so ill prolly go around a 3,200-3,400 from whoever builds it prolly either PTC or Neal Chance!

I am looking at the same converters, PTC is a 10 inch and i didnt really want that, If i am figuring right they charge $125 to put a ls1 pilot on since there 10 inch converter is $325
Edge is a 9.5 converter with a screw on pilot which could be change to run behind a sbc. I am liking This one.

I am happy with my Edge converter, its behind a gen 1 350, its a 3200 stall with a 2.4 STR, the car moves when I take my foot off the brake and it still hits pretty hard when I got on it, only driven it a very short time, but its way better than my jegs(B&M) 3000 stall.... go with Edge!
