Default 4l60e Problem, Please Help!

Tonight I was driving about 40 in drive, floored it and everything was fine. I thought I was in 3rd so i shifted it to D, but since i was already in drive it went into neutral. Now the car does not do ANYTHING in drive. It will not take off at all, if I put it in 1, 2, o 3, the car pulls fine and shifts fine. Any ideas what the problem could be??? All I did was go from drive to neutral by accident. Tranny has a very mild grinf sound when trying to take off in drive but barly. Even once moving, if i put it in drive from 1, 2, or 3, nothing happens in drive. This is a built tranny and has a 2800 vigilate stall. PLEASE HELP!

Yes I will and it sounds like you have and input sprag let loose I assume the 1-2-3 positions it will take off fine but when in the D or in some cars the OD position depending on wether your shifter says 1-2-3-d or 1-2-d-od it will do nothing. Its either that or as mentioned the forward clutch. But since it happened suddenly I would bet on the input sprag.

i think you are correct, and idea if that hurt the rest of the tranny? Is it ok to drive if I stay out of overdrive? Any idea how much that part is? Thanks for your help

Well the parts not real expensive but changing it generally is , As long as you dont get on it you can drive in D but remember there are only two little frictions holding in that case so drive easy
