Default New TC + Old Fluid

i have a rebuilt tci that i've been holding off on installing because i was worried about changing the fluid. i got the car with 55k and don't know if the fluid was changed, so i haven't had it changed since. now i'm at 80k and the car shifts fine, fluid looks ok, so i'm thinking about getting the tc in.

i want to change the filter and will have to add a few quarts of new fluid for any lost when pulling the tc and adding a trans cooler. would there be a problem if i used most of the old fluid when installing the tc? or should i just go new fluid and new filter?

New fluid and filter. For that matter, try to get as much of the old fluid as possible out. Thjere is NOTHING about changing the fluid that will hurt your trans... and nothing that leaving the dirty old fluid in will improve. (Why not add an external filter with temp gauge when you put the trans cooler on?)
