Transmission Help Well today I took my car in to my auto class because he wanted to check it out before I bought a used transmission. Only my first and reverse gears work right now. So first off, we checked the govener (i guess its a piece that has the car shift from first to second, i always thought it was JUST the top speed limiter). After a couple of hours taking everything of to get the govener to come out I found that it was broke. The spiral piece with the threads on it was snapped off. Here are some pictures.
And this is what its supposed to look like.
So does anyone have any ideas about this? Im sure this cant be my only problem, but maybe it will shift to second if this piece is fixed?
