Trans Temp High?
Just installed my Trans Temp Gauge , went for a drive and the gauge slowly climbed to 245 degrees. I installed the sender unit of the gauge to the test port of my 4L60E. I know its not the best spot but its temporary until I buy a trans cooler. Trans has 9,000 miles, is stock except for the average tune (torque reduction, base pressure, ect.)
Should I be seeing the temp that high? It's raining now so I'm done for the night. Any ideas or suggestions?

245 is a very high temp for any trans. Thats why a Trans cooler is a must on all transmissions regardless if it has a stock or aftermarket stall. Mine used to get to 230's when it was all stock and when it started to slip it would peg 250's. After the adition of a cooler the temps droped to around 210's. Now with a lower temp thermostat in the car lower fan on/off settings, and a built trans I see 200 tops sitting traffic on a 90 deg day.

Thanks everyone. I bought a trans cooler, and will pipe the sensor there.
I was hoping my trans wasn't that hot, but it makes sense that the sender is sensing the transmission casing rather than the fluid.
