Default Adding stall to stock 4l60-e reduce its life?

I have a question. Right now my 4l60-e is bone stock with a cooler and temp guage. My car puts down 420 rwhp, 413 rwtq, and makes 400 rwtq at 3800 rpms. I currently have a Pro Yank 3400 stall sitting here. I'm wondering if throwing it in will reduce the life of the tranny greatly, a little, or none? How does adding a converter effect the life of the trans. Obviously it creates more heat, but what else, thanks!

Well its going to send considerably more torque through the trans in the bottom end. So it will increase the strain in the trans significantly .

Soo IYO, with my power and that stall, would it be dumb to add it right now to the stock trans? Will i more than likely be pulling the trans real soon after to replace it you think? If so, i think i'll wait to get a built trans and throw the TC in at the same time....

It's all in how you drive it my friend...

My 4L60E has over 200K on it, has been rebuilt once..( stock rebuild) clutches, etc...

I am putting down 405 rwtq and it is still going.. I don't beat on it.. "obviously".. But the occasional rev and go occurs periodically..

I will be having RPM ( Indiana) build me a Level4 tranny later on this summer.. my current tranny slips somewhat if i get on it hard from 1-2.. other than that it still shifts smooth...

Hope this helps.. Oh, and i am running a Vig 3600 with heads, bolt on's and the G5X3..

Good luck

well with the kind of power your making, driving it will decrease the life of the tranny! your tranny is going to go out sometime, it could potentially damage the stall in doing so which would suck.

i think your best bet would be to start looking into built tranny's and when the tranny starts slipping, pull the tranny and but a built unit in along with the new stall.

installing the stall now wont help the situation out right now but it is hard to say how much it will hurt it. i know that it sucks having a brand new part sitting on the floor waiting to be install and having to wait. good luck
