Default Lock the convertor while running?

Coming from racing grand nationals, one of the tricks to drop a couple tenths was to lock the convertor while running. Do we not make enough low end torque for that to benefit us? Or are ls1 guys doing this i just haven't heard of it?

Generally with a good converter most actually run slower that way, And also beware with small diameter converters and really even the stock converter the lockup clutch was not designed to do that and it can cause premature failure, With the exception of multidisk units which are built with that in mind.
