whining acceleration

whining acceleration hey guys,
i just bought my first 99 firebird trans am (ls1)
when i accelerate it makes a whiring and hissing almost sounding like a jet engine... now i was thinking it could possibly be my power steering pump or something to do with my pcv but i just put a new pcv hose/valve/and gasket in and the sound persists, im 19 and not to skilled under the hood so i was hoping to get a little advice from people who know the car.
