1998 Firebird transmission Mission submission!
Watsup guys still kinda new here but i had a quick question.
I talked to a "Mechanic" the other day who said that "the 98 Firebird's automatic transmissions were unfortunantly not the best transmissions around. They usually start screwin up when they reach the 60,000 mile mark"
Anyway I have an automatic transmission and thought this sounded odd so I wanted to check with you guys. Is this true? If so, since mine is already slipping is there another more reliable transmission i could install without spending much more than the already expensive cost of replacing a transmission?

tranny slip
I would guess that your trans is a '98 reading your question ! The '98 units were not that much different inside , the control was where the problems occured . Tune issues seem to be a problem !! Any 4l60E needs some modification during rebuild to increase durability. Shift kits and better clutches and bands etc. If your trans is already slipping it probably needs rebuilding , but it depends why it is slipping . What does the fluid look like and is it at the correct level ? Are there any codes in the computer , and so on !!
