Actually alot , Autos with a stall are typically known to be faster than a 6 speed. You wanna go fast I would consider a stall you might find that "power robbing a4" is somewhat of a monster when your done

Getting the power to the ground is not the tranny's job. The suspension is. The trans takes alot of abuse and properly built are expensive. The trans and converter can be used as a tuning device when you chose the proper converter and trans in relation to the motors combination and power output. PS, automatics are VERY consistant! The last thing you talked about is money. My advice is to never cheap out or shortcut. It will leave a bad taste in your mouth. My mechanic quit smoking for 3 months to build his 396 for a Chevelle. To watch someone smoke 4-5 packs a day for so many years, and to quit something so hard to do for a dream in truely a passion. Do you have that much passion?

Have to agree w/PerformaBuilt, in most any serious drag car or dragster nothing but a properly selected TC & built trans for consistancy & quickness. In brackets an auto is used in 99% of all purpose built drag vehicles aside from Pro-classes (T/F, Pro Stock, Pro-mod).

Now if you are looking at chassis dyno #'s yes, the MN5-6 will always show more WHP vs a same powered Auto.....but the chassis dyno does not win races.

I agree its the torque you can put to the ground that matters and in that case the AUTO RULES!

The reason I asked about your combination is that you are not talking about breaking your 4L60E transmission over and over. Which is something many folks do talk about here. Which Transgo components did you add.... servo, hydraulic mods, shift kit, reprogramming kit, etc.....

If you are not breaking A4's, then the equation can only be in maximizing your current combination for your short term goals and the planning and executing upgrades for your long term goals.
