Default Drop car into 1st, takes off in 2nd

This is an issue that I kinda forgot about due to my car being in storage since Sept. When I put the car manually down to 1st (A4) it takes off in 2nd. Could this be an issue in the shifter itself? This has been an issue through a couple different transmissions.

Any ideas? Thanks

If the car starts off in second when in manual first , I would say you need to hook a scanner up and see what being comanded, To start in second the shift solenoid A must be off, Now if itstarts in 1st in D and OD I would say the solenoid and trans is fine, But some cars have the ability to start in second when put in manual second , If your is one of those I would say check that the PRNDLE (It n the console and tell the PCM what position the shifter is in) is sending the right gear position to the PCM. This can be determined with a scanner

Thanks I'll have my tuner look into that this spring when she comes out of hibernation.
