Default Shift MPH question

Is it normal for the converter that I just put in earlier to slip enough to cause the MPH that the car shifts at to drop quite a bit? I just noticed the other day that the car does its 2-3 shift at just about 80 now (maybe like 81), and it used to be just below 90 before the converter. Its still shifting right at 6000rpm like before, so I'm assuming it's just extra slippage that wasn't there before, but I haven't heard about this before. Is that normal? Thanks

Unlocked I would think that would be normal , The stall converter depending on it efficency will slip a varying amount unless its lockd so the PCM will see a higher RPM and cause the shift to occur a little early.

So I would think that would actually be bad for speed wouldn't it? Not having the lower gear as long and shifting to the higher one a little sooner? Seems kinda counter productive to going faster . I know it has the shift extension in there, but it just seems weird to me. lol. Thanks for the info though.

Well while you most definaly will make better times with a stall some people do loose a litle in the top MPH with a stall converter, Every mod you make generally has some trade off somewhere else
