a little but the improvments of a 4l65e can be added to even a basic pro build

if your looking for more power handeling just build a aftermarket 4l60e

also i tihnk the 4l65e has a steeper 1st gear for the heavier gto

The main differences are that they have the 5 pinion planets, seven 3-4 Hi-Energy clutches, and a bearing between the sunshell and output hub replaces the thrust washer. Gear ratios for the 700R4/4L60E have never changed.

As stated the most important and main difference is the addtion of 5 pinion planets . Gears ratios in the 700R4/4L60E/65E are all the same from 1982 to present.

The 4l65E can handle more than a 60. Just a heads up, the bearing style reaction shaft is found in other units than just the 65. I believe some of 99 and later trucks had it.

65E is a little stronger not by a massive amount though
