Default Transgo kit installed....rebuild soon??

Well guys, I had a tranny 4L60e specialist install my Transgo kit HD2 and replace solenoids today. He was somewhat disappointed in what the shifts kit felt like, even with all 3 washers). He is thinkin I will have to have a tranny rebuild within a year. What you guys think of this? Just wanted some opinions. TIA

Did you remove torque management on your transmission? If torque management is still there, your tranny will not shift the way it's mean to with the shift kit.

Honestly, with a cam and a big stall, you should be happy your tranny lasted long enough to take it and get the shift kit installed

It is not abnormal to see a tired unit not perform as it should after a shift kit is installed. Not one bit. The shift kit only addresses the hydraulics, nothing more, nothing less. Yes, if properly installed it does provide for better control of the pistons and other components, but those changes do not translate into shift feel.

I would suggest you seriously consider a well built unit. Your car has significant mods and as Choco Taco stated you are fortunate to have had it last as long as it has.

I believe in planning and execution. I would suggest that you not wait until the unit fails to put a plan into place. If you do wait then you are left "scrambling" to get it back up and running and that can lead to judgement errors that will keep the project from being successful inthe long run.

Just my .02... Hope it helps.

You bet!

One of our Stage 2 units would rock in that car!

Seriously, back to the planning comment. I would recommend you speak to several different builders in order to get a good understanding of what you are going to need for the short term and long term goals you have for your car. I would be happy to make the tie to discuss it with you should you call.
