Default 4l60E 94-97 Whats the difference ?

I asked this question on a different board and got one answer that said that there was a difference in the 94 to 95 to the 96-97 , and I called a local tranny shop and they said there was no difference but I dont know for sure who to believe. I know there is no difference in TC and in length or yoke ,but lets say I buy a 96 or 95 trans from a F-body will it work in my 94 with out swapping internals or PCM's?

I was also wondering this same question this weekend at a swap meet when I saw a rebuilt 4l60e out of a 94 camaro for like 200.00 I passed on it because I was not sure if it would work with my 2000 or not. Now that I think about it I should have bought it anyways, even if it didn't work, Im sure I could have resold it.

That's the exact same question i have. I've got a 1994 4l60e and a 2000 ls1 and was wanting to know if i could use this transmission behind my engine. Ihave heard of guy's using the 200-4r behind ls1's. If i can't is it true i can use the 200-4r behind the same engine and will my computer recognize this transmission and it work properly?

93 is the first "electric" year for the 4L60E. The differences are mostly electronic.
93-94--5 solenoids
94-96--6 solenoids w/blue connectors, for specific types of solenoids
96-02--6 solenoids w/grey connectors, " " " " "
The internals are mostly the same. 97 had a few changes with oil flow in the pump. 98 started the removable bell housing, but internals were the same. In 02 the 65E came on the scene with the 5 pinion planets and other slight mods to the trans. I don't want to get specific as this thread will be too long. Hope this helps.
