What to do to get the converter all the way in?
Ive blown a pump not putting it in all the way b4....and im hoping to god not to do it this time....Ive had this tranny out of the ******* car 5 times since ive had the car...I finally got my tranny built again and my stall fixed and it had been sitting around for over a yr....
How do u get the converter in all the way??? It looks like the cap in the middle is hitting the flywheel.....and htere is a huge gap between the spot where the converter bolts go through.....We got bolts all away around the bell housing but havnt started torquing em down yet cuz Im afraid its not in all the way....
I know its a commonly asked question but can someone help????
Also.....when it is in should there be any spacers put on around the converter bolts?

Just push the trans to the engine by hand and hand tighten the trans to engine bolts. Make sure it's all level.
Then take two screw drivers or whatever it takes and move the converter forward and backwards, and spin it. If it moves easy it's not binding up on anything.
That cap on the converter is the crank pilot, it goes into the end of the crank a bit before the bolt pads hit the flexplate.

if its hitting the middle of the fly wheel then the stall is moving out when ur putting it in just make sure it level and the stall is all the way in before tightening everything up,have a buddy hold the stall while raising it up(i always just tilt the trans back to make sure it doesnt slide foward)when raising it on the jack...
