Question no 4th gear

So i was driving my 95 silverado tonight which has a 4l60e transmission and after about 30 minutes of driving the truck would no longer shift into 4th gear. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what exactly the problem is (and how much money its gonna cost me to fix it )??

been there boss, no expert but my two cents along with the aformentioned posts....

sounds like a worn out 2/4 band. Check the servo cover travel....The servo is a multi-stage unit... 2nd gear can function fine, but 4th gear will not hold a load since a different section of the servo works the band in the 4th gear.

Or there could be a broken accumulator piston for the 4th gear...

Perhaps, swap in a pair of new shift solenoids (2) , see if that fixes the trans. maybe do a new filter n pan gasket.

chances are its the 1-2shift solenoid

good luck , post back with an update
