Default sprag question

I got the parts to fix my turbo 350(new sprag drum assembly).the outer race on sprag seems kinda hard to turn counter clockwise. is this normal?

It should have a little resistance one way possibly with a sqeaking sound and be impossible to turn the other way

If it is a one way roller clutch, then it should squeal like Frank has mentioned. If it is sprag style clutch then it should not squeal. I do agree that they all have a degree of resistance when being turned in the freewheel position. I have seen some aftermarket sprag drums that I did not like the way they turned. Mostly from improper machining. Maybe take it apart to take a look or call who you purchased it from to see what their thoughts are. Vince

If its a segment sprag, make sure you have it on the correct way, or it will flip it, and you'll never have 2nd gear.

thanks it just seemed like it was a little too much resistance to me but I dont know a thing about transmissions.I asked people who sold it and they said it should be fine
