Angry not again!

Coming home i was bombing backroads. Opened it up on a straight away and when it slammed 3rd i heard grinding and clunking and i let out. pulled over and the inspection cover is gone! i limped it home clunking and grinding. got home shut it off looked in and saw nothing floating around. Started it back up to move it out of the way and it grinds and clunks then sounds normal. put it in reverse roll down the hill then threw it in drive. hit the gas revs like its in neutral! it worked until i turned it off wth. had to push it into the side yard with my truck. I have no freakin clue what it is now. Everything it replaced and beefier then stock. fluid is clean and smells normal.

im running:
Performabuilt stage 2
Vigilante 3800
b&m cooler
tci flex plate

any ideas what broke now.

When you say "inspection cover is gone " you mean your rear end inspection cover is gone? or converter cover? Didnt you have a TCI converter to fail back in april ? Lockup clutch came apart or something ?
Let me know if I can be of any help.

the small round cover on the bell is gone. Was there last week when i changed the oil. Yes i did have a TCI converter lose lockup which we believe was the lockup clutch piston. The tranny ran fine with the Vigilate i threw in. Stong as hell even. ran a 13.3 blowing thew tires off. Line pressure, dunno. Didnt mess with it. Only thing that could have changed it was my tune from diablo.

Well good you found it and there was no more damage I have seen converter bolts come out and some serious damage be done. PUMP-FRONT SEAL-BELL HOUSING-FLEX PLATE.
Use a little blue locktite on them this time

44ftlbs is what was posted here. However I have seen different opinions on this subject. To be honest I have never used a torque wrench in this area. How are going to get a torque wrench in there? I always made sure they were good and tight!

unfortunately I do not know the sizes of the tci bolts as I think the are different than standard and I agree on how the hell would you get a toque wrench in there

Take a look at this thread for converter installations. It might help you out if you were not already aware of it. Vince https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...738&highlight=

Ugh I still need to put the tranny and clean up the holes. the openings are a tad messed up from smacking the flex plate. I found my ARP bolts for the converter But to use them i had to remove some metal from the heads because last time they didnt clear the block becuase of the thicker plate. Im going to loctite the flexplate bolts too while i have the tranny out to be safe. this is be the 10 millionth time i have had to put a tranny in this car for one reason or another lol im sick of it.

Do you know how the holes in the flexplate look? Sometimes the get oval shaped and not round like they are suppose to be.

Also, had the same thing happen on a buddys TA with the ARP bolts tapping due to a little to tall... We said **** it and just reused the stockers. Its too damn hard to grind down with a dremmel.. lol
