Default 1998 Z-28

I just bought a 98 Z that has a extremely hard 1-2 shift. If you are under a decent throttle, the accelerator peddle will actually pull away from your foot on the 1-2 shift. The engine doesn't rev, the peddle just pulls toward the floor. When going from park to any gear, it slams into gear then also. I was told it was probably the valve body, if this is true, is there a particular brand you guys recommend or just go GM. thanks in advance for any info
