Default Output Shaft Play

I have broken 2 tailshaft housings. I bought a TA relocation bracket. The new tailshaft housing is perfect even after a couple track days because of the TA bracket. However, i noticed my housing seal leaking. I took out the driveshaft and noticed that the output shaft has noticable play in it. What is the cause of this? Do i need to tighten it? Is something seriously broken in my trans? The trans shifts fine and appears normal aside from the leak. I would think that since the driveshaft was out and i could wiggle the output shaft that the diveshaft should be fine as far as balancing is concerned. I really need some help. I am getting tired of fooling with these tailshaft housings.

with the drive shaft out you will have play. The bushing in the tail housing supports the output shaft via the yoke.

I believe the bushing has somehting wrong with it because the driveshaft still have noticable play in it when installed.

Then I would replace the bushing and inspect the yoke

Worn bushings inside the trans can cause issues like you are having. The case bushing is one that comes to mind. If you do replace the tail bushing again make sure to get a Teflon bushing. Vince
