Ya the RD radiators are nice but not in my price range. It is stock for now but will be modded in the near future so I hate to throw a stock on back in. Anyone put a universal radiator in? Any info on a good place to get a stock one or universal?

stock is more then sufficient until you really start doing a lot of stuff like turbos, blowers etc. And at that point i think a good set of electric fans would benefit more then a radiator.

Ok I will take your advise. This is my first V and I just came from owning a few different cobra's and those things always needed more radiator. Maybe the aluminum motors get rid of the heat better? Where is a good priced place to get a stock radiator? Thanks for the help!

The radiator gripes and complaints for the V was a topic of discussion just last week on Facebook. Mine had a small leak along the side where the plastic meets the aluminum and apparently where some others have had leaks as well. I have had @ least 4 GM cars/trucks that have lost radiators at the same place. I put a $3 bottle of stop-leak in mine and I've gotten about 5 mos out of it with only having to fill the reservoir twice. Hopefully this is an issue that might be addressed one day by GM...YEAH RIGHT...ie motor mounts on V1's

Good point. I am really surprised to not see a vendor make an all aluminium radiator for the V for a few hundred. Cant find the one on the d3 site either?

I'm interested in an aftermarket, better cooling radiator as well. My stocker needs to be replaced before I can drive the car any more. The car sees heavy road course use so I want the upgrade.

I didn't want to go with another stocker knowing it'll probably leak again. Someone turned me on to RockAuto. Got a direct fit radiator for around $175 shipped. Put about 4K miles on it in 7 months including a track day. No leak at all.
It looks just like a stock radiator, but has connections for transmission lines. No problems with temps, and fits is perfect.

What type connection and where are the transmission lines in that radiator? I had to relocate my PS cooler to clear my intercooler, the PS cooler is out of the way and secure, but I'm not 100% happy with it. Wonder if i could run the PS fluid through the radiator where the transmission lines are supposed to go....

my only reason for wanting to install the radiator with the trans cooler is so I could delete the PS finned cooler.

Does the stock radiator have a oil cooler built in?

No oil cooler in the stocker.

I'm still on the original radiator in mine and it cools 7 liters w/11.25 cr just fine in the "dog days" Carolina heat with a 180* thermostat.

If it fails, I'll replace it with an aftermarket OEM type. The Davis radiator won't fit because of my intake system.
