Default PO171 & 174 Codes (Need Advice)

Hey Guys,

On my 07 V i just installed a CAI and Ported the TB. It has the stock tune. Shortly after i did these mods i got the 171 and 174 codes. Would a dyno tune solve my problem? I have checked for leaks and couldn't find anything. I am going to clean the MAF tomorrow to see if that helps? It is running normal but i know it is getting a ton more air now and didnt know if the ECM could adjust enough.

Need some advice here..

Thanks,
Brent

It needs to be pretty lean to throw those codes. I wouldn't drive it too hard.
Clean the MAF and double check for leaks. Even though the TB is after the MAF, I wouldn't think it'll make it so lean as to throw a code.
If there are no leaks, and the MAF and TB are working properly, a tune should clear the problem.

Thanks Tony. I just figure if there is a vaccum leak it would run funny or at least idle high?? Maybe the MAF needs to be cleaned??? I will check back in after i clean the MAF sensor in a couple of hours. Anybody else think it just needs a tune?

Thanks,

Suprisingly I cleaned the MAF with the MAF Sensor Spray and the light hasnt came back on? I didn't figure that would work? Anyway If it comes back i guess i will just get a tune. LOL

Probably too much oil on the filter. You might want to spay the MAF again after a couple hundred miles.
If you don't already know this, the O2 sensors are not used to correct fueling above 4K rpm. If the MAF is causing a lean condition (even with no CEL) you WILL be lean at WOT. I can't say if it will be a little or too much, but it's something to keep in mind.
That being said, I'm glad it was an easy fix.
