Default Kooks 1 7/8 w/B&B

Please save the flames like "search" and whatnot. I've searched for a while and haven't seen exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a set of 1 7/8 Kooks on order with the high flow cat connecting pipes for the standard exhaust hookup. I also have the B&B 3" w/X-pipe exhaust currently on the car. I'd like to see what needs to be done to get these two pieces to work together. I can't tell from the pictures if I will need to purchase some 2 1/2 to 3 inch transitions to make it work. If so, I'll probably try to weld them onto the Kooks piece and then do a V-band setup to the exhaust. Anyways, I'd love to see some pictures of making this work if anyone has some, or some specific advice. Thanks!

Surely I'm not the only one on this site attempting this...

Heads/cam it put down about 400whp. It idles and drives like stock, but with a nice broad torque band. I couldn't really have asked for a more Cadillac like setup.

Headers will be in this week, so we will see how the process goes. Hopefully it all lines up relatively easily.

Headers/Cats showed. Jet hot coating looks great. Marylandspeed rocks on pricing and customer support. Hopefully I'll have a chance to try to get everything hooked up this weekend.

This was considerably more work than expected. The Kooks collectors come out inside of where the factory manifolds/cats come out. The angles on the Kooks connecting pipes are probably a little too sharp, but they can be welded in with a set of 2.5 to 3 inch piping connectors. If I was going to do it all over again, I'd probably skip the connecting pipes and custom pipe everything after the headers. Also, the angle of the connecting pipes pushes the B&B too close to the center driveshaft heat shield, and this is something that I still need to get adjusted properly. As it sits, if I'm on the gas hard, the engine torques enough to bang the shield.

Any reason you went with the Kooks headers over the B&B headers?

I wanted the larger primaries. If b&b had been 1 7/8, I would have been all over them.
