Default Need Advise. Poor Audio from CD 05V.

Threw a CD in my 05 deck and played normal for a few seconds then it became very subdued. Do you think it just needs a cleaning? Would you recommend the cleaning CD with the felt brush?

I've used the cleaning CD (not on the V but on other CD players) with the felt brush and it worked wonders but I dont think that is your problem. Give it a try though maybe it will fix it. The reason I used it b/c it was skipping and couldnt read CD's at all.

A cd is digital, the radio will either be able to read the 1's and 0's or it won't. Worth a shot cleaning it, but I personally doubt it will fix the issue. I couldn't begin to guess what else it would be.

As stated, if your player needed cleaned, the quality wouldn't necessary be bad, but it would skip and/or be 'glitchy' sounding. Big difference.

If the quality seems to have dropped, perhaps there is a problem elsewhere with the amplifier or speakers. How about the radio, does it sound worse than it did as well?

The radio sounds the same. Problem has isolated itself to the cd player.

I would guess that you have a loose connection between the cd player section and the main amplifier section. I have never taken one of these apart but I would guess that there are a couple of boards in there. Could be a wire or solder joint that has failed and is just not making a good connection. I know between here and the other board I have seen pictures of this radio taken apart that you could use as a reference to see if you want to tear into it or not.
