Default I love my B&B exhaust but...

With a baby on the way it's going to be too loud. Anyone done anything successfully to tone down the B&B exhaust? I have LT headers and no cats. Sounds like a corsa exhaust might be my best option if modifying the B&B doesn't work. I guess if a corsa owner has thought about having something louder let me know too.

Inside or outside? Because you can fix the former with about $400 in soundproofing materials.

B&B is the best looking, in my opinion.

Do you have the resonator or X pipe? If you have the X, Switching to the resonator will make a pretty big difference, as would adding cats.

If this is your first baby, maybe you should wait before you do anything?

I'm no expert on children, but I had Borla Cat-back on a 1996 TA and my little person would completely zonk out every time she rode in that car, from the drone/vibration and we didn't have the same experience in our quieter vehicles.

Now that I've upgraded to the V, which is no where near as loud, but my little person (still not 3) LOVES the car and says things like "Go fast again Daddy!" to really irritate my wife, haha.

So what your saying is: he should get cutouts Haha

Thats funny. I guess if the noise was bothering them they would cry/scream, not pass out...unless its from the smell of no cats.

I have a B&B center resonator laying around in my garage if you need to buy one.

Yea I have B&B with the x-pipe stock headers though, and literally when my baby goes for a ride, within 5 minutes she fast asleep. Its soothing, at least thats my excuse to the wife.

Growing up, my dad had a number of V-series Suburbans from the late 80's, with big angry low compression 350's, dual exhaust and mud tires. Every single one of my younger siblings would clock out within a matter of seconds once their asses hit the carseats and the 'Burb hit the road.

I think you'd be surprised... supposedly the constant, low drone is soothing... I can attest to that driving 800mi in one night, I was about ready to put myself to sleep with my Silverado's exhaust note, I had to keep downshifting to change the tone.

Put the cats back on.

If that doesn't quiet it enough, put the resonator on.

Have you ever heard a Corsa exhaust with no cats and long tubes? I had that set up on my WS6, you could literally hear it for miles. Another vote for putting the cats on. Just swapping on a Corsa will not fix it

Great responses! I have an x-pipe right before the rear diff. I was thinking resonators where the exhaust is straight while going under the driveshaft. I also didn't want to spend money for cats either.

Add a res if it annoys you, I don't think your baby will mind though

Has anyone run headers, no cats, B&B resonator, x-pipe, and B&B catback?

Typically the B&B resonator replaces the B&B X-pipe. Are you saying you have an X-pipe that isn't the standard B&B X-pipe?

I have the standard but was trying to think a outside the box but running the resonator the n having an x-pipe doesn't seem easy. If I only replaced my B&B x-pipe with the B&B resonator sec would I lose power? And how much would the resonator really "quiet" things down?

This ranks up there with why people sell a V because they have a baby or 2nd kid on the way...

Kids love this car!

If you can't get your baby to sleep, put them in the V and take them for a drive.... they'll be out in less than a minute.

Before my V and with my daughter, she slept in front of the tv with the Speed channel on and napped in the car with big turbo, HF cat, and exhaust. Now son does the same with my V with Corsa. You'll be surprised how constant noise now matter how loud knocks them out. Keep the house quiet and slam a kitchen cabinet door by accident, and it wakes them up.

The resonator quiets it a lot.

I use to run no cats with an X pipe.

Stopped three times and ticketed once (excessive noise).

The cats and an X pipe are what I run now.

Are you running cats and x pipe bc it's the best sounding yet civil? Was it still too loud with the resonators and catless, but not loud enough with cats and resonators?
