2005 ctsv low voltage
Hi all. So after my alternator went bad last year i replaced it, and everything was fine for a while. Now every now and then, the battery wont charge and it goes into battery saver mode. Then all of the sudden voltage comes back up and battery saver mode goes away and everything is back to normal. Ive read a little bit about grounds and such, looks like this is a common issue. So i guess what im asking where are the common locations for grounds and such, ive cleaned the one by the hood strut already.
Thank you for any input.

there is a small 2 or 3 wire connector on the alternator... one of those wires, I think the orange... probably has a break in it. when that wire breaks it will stop charging. id say you have an intermittent short in that wire right by the connector or you have a bad alt..
I just went through an issue like this on a friends V. you couldn't tell the wire was broken inside the insulation until you actually felt the wire. tight space though.

Funny story. A buddy I work with has a V and today he was trolling the site and made fun of my post about the 101 being a crappy battery. Guess what? Went out to leave work and the battery was dead. 5.1 volts on the meter. No lights left on or anything. Battery just took a ****.
He goes yeah that's just karma getting me back for making fun of you lol

Yup, karma at its best.. My 101 was only 6 months old, car was slow to start yesterday morning but didnt think anything of it. After work it was dead completely, jumped it, then went to the parts store where they said it was good at 12.1V but charge required. They put it on the charger and after 10 minutes it said bad cell, actually got so hot the kid burned himself on the terminals taking it out..
FWIW- the battery gauge on the info screen has read 12.8v-13.1v for the last few weeks, with the new battery installed it reads 13.8v-14.1v
