Bought a 06 CTS-V
Well since owning a F-Body since 2001 i have bought myself an 06 CTS-V, i have always loved these cars since they came out in 04. Got the car for a good deal i am happy with it. I have to wait to get the car shipped here in NL, where i live, but it is worth the wait. Can't wait to take it for a blast i am like a kid here on Christmas morning.

I feel the 06 rear is better... but I've snapped an inner cv and an outer cv in the matter of a month... so there's that. I did, however, manage MANY NUMEROUS passes at the drag strip over the course of 3+ years.

I also recently picked up an 06. it was a dream car of mine and I got my hands on one at the age of 27. I feel pretty awesome. I remember sitting in a 06 model in a Cadillac showroom telling myself I'd never be able to own one. also, the previous owners took great care of it as well and did some great mods such as k&n cai, corsa catback, sct chip tune, lowering springs. I added headers and cat delete and she sounds beautiful. I swear I have a huge grin on my face whenever I drive her around. im thinking of doing an tb and intake manifold and then I a tune in the future. anyone else recently purchase a first gen?

No big plans for the car LT's and a tune other than that nothing to special, i didn't research the car, but i work on cars for a living i haven't work on a Caddy, but i do work on VW's and Audi's and they are a different breed of their own. I have always wanted one of these cars i love them, next one is going to be the 6.2 supercharged..

I won't be pounding on the car all the time and i doubt very much that it will see a 1/4 run, not into it to be honest. Got it for cruizing and a scattered tire burning..

Then use precaution. This isn't a car to do standing burnouts in. Donuts is easier on the diff than a standing burnout. The wheelhop doesn't exist sliding it sideways, but its an issue from a dead stand.

ive gotten sideways a few times but that was with wet roads. not the best idea but the tires slide easy and the TC keep it under control. other then that I baby the heck out of her. I shift usually around 2k or so and just cruise around town. she's my d/d. the lt's confuse the heck out of people. lol. they don't expect a caddy to sound like that.

I won't be doing no burnouts like that to old for that ****, i can't understand why GM, puts a 400 h/p motor in a car than backs it up with a dinky rearend, same as the F-Body's..

The rears are stronger than you think.
I've had many stock rears. None have failed, just whined. The current one is a few years old now, but still the latest edition. For 6+ years I've stayed within the lines and never beat on them. I've seen hop a few times but immediately let off to prevent damage.
Ffwd 90k miles and the car generally pisses me off for several reasons these days.., the other night I just snapped and decided on a whim at 1am to go out and teach this succubus who's boss.... I did multiple 4k clutch dumps combined with hard lock full throttle donuts...wheel hop galore...bang bang bang bang... yelling f"ck you b"tch! the whole time... Felt pretty good. Rear held up fine. Whines a bit more now but what's new..
Honestly I can't see how people have broken these rears. I guess they were rocking slicks or conditions were just right...
