Reputable shop in NY Tristate (Sponsors chime in) Looking at getting a cam done in the near future.
Custom cam, manley pushrods, dual valve spring kit with titanium retainers, new ngk tr55 plugs, c5-r timing chain, mellings high flow oil pump, ls7 lifters (or trunion upgraded), ported intake mani, all gaskets needed, and dyno tune (inc in labor).
^ I was quoted at 2k for the parts and 2600 for labor?! To my understanding, this is a 8 hour job. I don't see how it ends up being 2600 labor. In total after taxes, I was looking at $19 shy of $5,000.
My car as it sits right now has 146,100+.
I am interested in getting a cam job done with tune for closer to 3, 3.5k. Anyone care to chime in? I could have a local shop do the install for 1k and then get towed for the tuning, but would prefer a shop that actually does this on the regular.
I can do a 2 or 3 hour one way drive from NYC, but can't really validate a 5-6 hour drive.

Got 2 quotes. One with and one without the lifter work, but since the car is 146k... I'm most likely going to have em do the lifter work and replace head gasket, etc.

i replied to your post in the second BS thread in the SRK. I grew up with the tuner/co-owner. Great guys there. They should be able to set you up really nice!
