Default whay do you guys think...car purchase

I trust your guys opinion. Looking at a 2005 z51 corvette. 37k miles.. 6speed. Forged LS2 motor, Afr heads, comp cams..cam. Duration is 238/240 112lsa. .605/.609 lift.
Dyno sheet claims 529hp and 508tq.

Car looks in excellent shape. Appears taken care of..

What do you guys think of those #'s.?? Does this sound like a decent car to pick up?

Never seen a heads/cam ls2 make anywhere near those numbers. Must be a stroker. The 05 had horrible issues with the rear so plan on upgrading that first thing. Also worth noting which Im sure you have seen but they have the worlds ugliest steering wheel lol.

How much are they asking?

I'm also thinking they did a stroker. Need some more info about the "forged lower end".

I'm not sure I'd spend $25k on it. I see decent C5s local to me for like $15k now. Maybe offer him $20k? I dunno... I just don't understand why people try to get the value out of all the parts in a car. Sure someone might want that exact setup. But its harder to sell. And that's coming from me, I have never left a car stock, and I'm in the midst of a stroker LS2 myself.

Ill try to get more details today. Im just NOT interested in a C5... i almost bought a c5z before I bought my V... Love the V!!.. the C5 interior looks like the blazer interior I had... gross. The $25K price tag is close to book value with the 37,000miles and the immaculate condition of the car.. SOO it doesnt seem out of line. I really was looking for an 08+ LS3 car.. but I seem to have gotten hooked on this particular ride. Here are a few videos...

Looks like a reasonable price to me. He's selling it for book value with a lot of pricey mods and it's in mint condition. Those Vettes hold their value pretty well.

Did you get a chance to look at the build sheet? Who built the motor?

Havent heard from the dude this morning.. but last night I got some details.

He claims he is the second owner and the car was purchased new in his family. He says he graduated from the hennessey performance academy (ive never heard of that).. Says he did the work along with Lethal Performance in san antonio texas. Says they tuned it to the max along with nitrous and pulled 668rwhp. When he took the nitrous off and with a mild mannered tune they got 472rwhp... with an aggressive tune they pulled 529rwhp.. According to the dyno sheet he sent me... I feel naive about all this and thats why im asking you guys opinions! I HATE the ******* starfish steering wheel!! lol

Here is the for sale ad on corvette forums, now dont be stealing my car! lol

Ok received a few texts from this guy. I asked if the motor was a stroker build, what internals were used and so forth.

He replies that he has already stated the motor is forged and heads cam intake... I again asked details.

"Motor has heads/cam/intake and forged pistons. Ported and polished heads and throttle body. Not a single problem with anything. I should actually be parting it out but I rather sell it as is to give someone else an advantage. No funny noises coming from the motor or anything. Drives very smooth and picks up well when you punch it. Not a single scratch on the paint or interior. Not a stroker build and not bored. its still a daily driver. we were able to balance this vehicle perfectly without pushing the limit or sacrificing driving capability. its extremely comfortable and fun to drive."

The guy seems to dodge giving actual specs of the motor build. IDK how he can make those kind of numbers with a basically stock motor with heads and cam, stock intake and cold air setup... HOW?

Sounds shady. Also doesn't sound like he wants to tell u something.

I personally would void any car that was tuned to the max on nitrous. That's just my gut.

Seems a little off but sounds good

Got a little more info since earlier.

He bought the level 3 AFR head/cam package from west coast corvette.

AFR custom CNC ported & polished heads. 2.05 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust.
titanium retainers, dual race valve springs, pro comp head stud kit.. the cam was a custom spec comp cam. I posted the specs earlier.

west coast corvette claims up to 120hp gains using the smaller cam with the level 3 package.

Dude claims it currently is at 529hp to the wheels and 508tq.. Said that was the most recent dyno tune. After reading a hot rod magazine article they were able to get 593hp/crank from an LS2 with pretty similar heads and cam.

IDK.. its still a 2005... BUT such low miles!!

Depending on what dyno they used and what factors they imputed... I can maybe see 530ish... But that seriously seems very hopeful numbers.

that dude is BS for sure voodoo. car probably makes around 465 on a real dyno if its a 6.0 and that's being generous. Stay away from used nitrous motors... I'd hate to see you get screwed and that's what it looks like would happen if you bought that car... I'd offer him 15 for the car if you really want it... Guaranteed its not worth 25k
