Default LT's?? Worth it??

Are a set of 1 3/4" Kook's and high flows really worth $1200??? What kind of difference am I going to FEEL?

I've just never spent so much on headers in my life and I want to be sure it's worth it.

Thnaks guys!

I was in the same boat not wanting to drop the money, but I wish i wouldnt have waited so long it definetly makes a difference and the install wasnt hard at all. Go with 1 7/8 over the 1 3/4 though IMO. I picked up 22rwhp from 1 7/8 on a car with just cold air intake and mufler delete. That was with high flow cats. Sending you a PM now.

I'd like to know HP/TQ differences between 1 3/4 versus 1 7/8.

On a mostly LS6 I'd bet they're very minimal if any.

OP: Yes, def worth it. I was in the same boat as you. Coming from Mustangs, I was use to $250-$400 headers. While I don't think I picked up quite as much as itsslow98 did (didn't dyno before & after), it's a lot more fun to drive that's for sure.

You certainly dont lose power with the 1 7/8.....so why not be better suited down the road when you decide to do heads/cam/blower etc. The cost of the headers i wanted to be prepared for down the road. From what ive been seeing, 1 7/8 is where its at now.

I made 343 with CAI and muffler delete, and made 365 with 1 7/8 with cats. Then 400 with a cam.

My only concern with going 7/8 over 3/4 is tq, I don't want to lose any tq as this is a street car. I want to keep the tq curve nice.

Later mods is really where long tubes come into play..whether it is FI, h/c, nitrous, etc. if you did any one of these on stock exhaust manifolds, then switched longtubes, the gain would be huge. Yes they are worth it.

I put mine on in March...They are worth every penny. Sound, torque and hp difference made me very happy. I made 382 RWHP.

My plans for the car are:

TPiS LS6 Manifold w/ 92mm snout
ported lS7 tb
stock maf
k&n fipk
Pat G cam
magnaflow catback
MAYBE a hsw 100 shot plate kit for the cocky 03/04 cobra owners. Lol

so I think 1 3/4" will be good enough for that. With no question of tq loss.

Hell! I could be completley wrong. This is my first LSX car. Just got rid of my built D1 procharger Cobra. So I'm not really sure on what effects these cars in what ways. Ya kno?

Thanks for the help guys!

i just dont see you losing more then 2-3 ft lbs with the 1 7/8 over the 1 3/4 but i do see you gaining 2-3+ from the 1 7/8 over the 1 3/4 the more mods you do....cam, nitrous etc. have fun with it though you cant really go wrong. I just dont see the point myself the headers are gonna last for years and if you plan on keeping the car, you might as well benefit from it the most down the road. I didnt plan on doing a cam and long tubes at all......on 100 shot i picked up 15+ hp on the 100 shot once i did the cam and long tubes.

Since you're planning additional mods down the road, do the 1 7/8 headers. Buy right the first time.

Anybody have dyno numbers on the Pacesetters? The price is very tempting.

It took me a while to pull the trigger on headers. I gained 15 whp which is cool, But sometimes I wonder If I could of just pulled the cats and still gained a few Hp.

I paid almost 1300 for 1 7/8 kooks w/cats. thats alot of money IMO.

^ I'm about to do it myself. I was planning on fathers day weekend to put in the headers, cam, supporting crap and tune it but it wont be working out. Chances are I'll be parking the car and doing everything little by little as I get the time becaues every weekend from here to the end of July is taken When I go up to Thunder Racing to order everything, I'll get some base dyno numbers too.

i only gained about 15 whp as well but it sure feels like alot more compared to stock. and the exhaust note is the ****

the last kill i got tells me headers are worth every-cent..

the other night on a run to NYC i did 2 pulls vs a e60 M5.. he had 2 passengers..i had zero and the M5 is 4087 lbs vs our 3849 lbs rolled in 2nd gear from 3k.. forgot what speed.. kept WOT till 125-130.. he got the jump offf the beeps and held half a car till 80 and then the v just kept gaining and gaining till i was ahead by over half a car.. when we stopped up-ahead, the guys in the M5 poored out to check out the v.. they were surprised it was so quick.. later that night i rolled with a GT3 till at least 145.. thank god for the DIC digital speedo

Well I'll be getting a tune at the same time, and I already have an intake and tune (which I'm not tuned for) so I'm hoping all these things with the tune will make it SEEM like it was worth the 1500 (LT's & tune)

Or because they are just lazy and haven't gotten around to posting the numbers.
