Death Wobble?

Death Wobble?
So I am driving down the freeway in the rain yesterday, as I hit 65 mph+ the car starts shaking horribly. This continues all the way from 65-80mph, which is as fast as I got. The odd thing was once the rain stopped the roads and the car were dry, there was no shaking or anything, the car was smooth. Could this be unbalanced rims and the water is adding just enough weight to throw it off? I am at a loss for what could be causing this, and it wasnt just a little wobble, I mean my car was SHAKING! Thanks for the help guys...

Maybe those tires arnt ment for rain, also could be alignment issue so in dry it's fine with rain it will wobble cuz the Tires and trying to flow the water thru the threads. I would say that most likely you have something loose. Or bad alignment with bad tires

My car would do the exact same thing with the 19" wheels and bridgestones. Went bake to stock wheels and michelins and not a single issue in the rain. Never actually found the cause other than swapping back.

My car had a bad shake between 65-80 until I replaced the tires. Now it's only a slight vibration at 65. When I went to Willow Springs earlier this year I used my other tires on different rims without the TPM sensors and the vibration was completely gone.
So I had the TPM sensors mounted on the other rims with the same tire and the slight vibration came back. So for my car it's something to do with the balancing and the TPM sensors.

I'd still check the exhaust. Even if it doesn't end up being that, it's something easy to troubleshoot and eliminate from the equation. I had the same problem as Stone did with my Corsa, but I assume it could happen with any custom exhaust. It only happened in the rain and at certain speeds - similar to your issue. The exhaust would heat up and with the rapid cooling from the rain it would cause the exhaust to flex and rub against the driveshaft. It's been years since I fixed it, but as I recall, it did make the car feel unstable or wobble. It also made a horrendous noise like a very loud hydroplane sound or like going over one of those old drawbridges with the metal grates. If you can put the car on a lift, check the driveshaft for any noticeable rubbing. It should look like ring in the spot where it rubs.

It rained an absolute ton here on Sunday, and you said you have Nitto 555's. I'd guess that's the problem.
I went out on Sunday to pick up dinner in my wife's car w/ Eagle ResponsEdge tires, couldn't go more than about 35-45mph there was so much standing water on the road.
I've had the Corsa-clunk too. I doubt it is the metal cooling, as it wouldn't do that repeatedly once it got wet. I think it has more to do with spray pushing it around. It doesn't have to move much before it hits the rear swaybar, or possibly the driveshaft if you installed it too close.
