I did buy a set and can vouch for the fact they are well made. However, I didn't realize until too late they can't be used with long tube headers (DUH!!). So I'm running cat-less for the time being. I contacted Mandrel Exhaust (Miami) and they were very cooperative. I'm returning my set tomorrow morning and they're refunding my purchase price less a small restocking fee. I suggested they mention in their ad that these do NOT work with LT headers. The ad clearly states "Bolt on installation for factory or aftermarket headers". I suppose they would work with shorty headers, but I can't recall seeing anyone on here with shorties. Not sure if any of this info is useful to the OP....

So I found their site online instead of using eBay.

http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail

Question now is which one to pick. They have the magnaflow high glow cat or the Thunderbolt high glow cat?

I don't think you can go wrong with either selection. The cats have a great sound to them, and improved performance. I passed CA smog with them with no issues too (tech didn't even look).

I have them and for the most part I'm happy. Get the magnaflow cats. I did have a few issues: My magnaflow system was a bit of a pain to get lined up correctly with these cats. They use an odd exhaust flange donut (unlike any other donut I've seen) and it made for a difficult seal on my magnaflow system. I think the oem stock exhaust would have mated/sealed fine. The other issue I had was the gaskets they sent (even their replacements) weren't the perfect size so they kept leaking and blowing out at the manifold to cat connection. I ended up finding a better fitting set (after 3 tries) at autozone and so far they seem to be holding. They pipes and cats are nicely made though and if sotp and sound tells you anything, they must flow much better than stock. Keep in mind that without a programmed pcm to turn off rear o2s, you'll throw a code after a few miles of driving.

What exhaust setup do you have?

Im running stock manifolds, xpipes and deleted muffler. I want to get a little bit more sound out of her and I plan on camming it next month. Do you have a sound clip of your set-up?

thanks in advance!!

I was running the stock exhaust with the muffler delete. The fitment for me was like OEM, no issues at all. I sold the car, so can't provide a sound clip, but I can tell you that my other buddies with V's all plan to order these cats just for the sound alone.

Did you have to do a tune afterwards and did it throw codes? I really want it for the sound too. LOL

Well I had mine tuned when I did the cam (before the cats), and had the rear 02's turned off, so I'm not sure if they will cause a CEL.

Other than emission purposes, is there any reason u guys prefer high flow cats as opposed to running catless?

Well I went with these highflow cats because nobody was making a bolt in solution for catless pipes that connect the stock manifolds to the stock or aftermarket cat-back system. This was the next best thing because I didn't want headers and didn't want to spend 700 on the RT cats.

Less smell and quieter with cats.

Agreed....and I don't think you really gain any performance being catless over high flow.

Personally, I like the sound with no cats but the smell can be a little much when standing behind the car at idle so that I get. And u may not gain much if any power over some good high flow cats but running catless will make the car perform equally as well if not better. Cats are also more expensive and I hate always having that chance that they could clog up. Suppose that why it was always an easy decision to run catless when it came to making that choice.

Why do people get their rear O2's turned off? The images on the cats look like they have a rear O2 sensor hole...

These high flow cats flow much more than stock and therefore don't do as good of a job to reduce emmisions. Without the o2s turned off, you'll get a code thrown for inefficient cats.
