Labor cost to replace diff?
Hey guys...My V **** it's diff a couple months ago, and I still am not in a position to do it myself. I'm about to break down and get a shop to replace it for me, but I'm wondering how many hours go into the job, per GM manual. I have all the parts, and I have a shop that is just fine with that, I just want to know what to expect. I don't know what their hourly rate is, but if anyone can give me the book hours, I'd appreciate it.
I did try a search, both here and google, but didn't find what I was looking for. Thanks.

I just got a quote Saturday of 2200. That was with the dif priced too 1600. Luckily for me it look like I just had a wheel bearing go out and not the dif. In a similar situation my cars at a dealer 8 hours away and I took a rental home

Just called a local speed shop...they said $400 in labor, and I have all the parts. Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Just have to get it towed there. I really hope it doesn't give me many more problems cause I'm really tired of dealing with cars breaking. And honestly I don't even beat on my stuff that hard. I know for a fact that the last guy did but hopefully the rest of it holds together.

CTS LABOR TIME: 3.5
CTS-V LABOR TIME: 5.4
Pulled directly from the labor time guide under Service Information.
Mind you this is warranty too. Alldata books the job at 4.5 hours customer pay, so depending on how the dealer wishes to charge you it may vary.
I personally would have the adviser quote 5.4 hours install + fluid or required parts.
As stated above, it would be cheaper through a speed shop, but through a dealership anything that happens after the install would be on them to repair for free.
Hopefully that helps.
