Default battery in the trunk.

Been thinking about buying a kit to mount my battery in the trunk. Anyone recommend any good kits?

I don't really want to buy in pieces, just need something good enough.

To the guys who have them, any problems having It back there?

Weight distribution isn't a huge issue on this platform. However, on the 08+ CTS they have the battery in the trunk.

I'm interested in this as I'm also interested in going dry sump. Free up some space for the tank.

I'd really just like to do it for future plans of turbos (wont be for a while). I figure I can start moving things around and start making space. So if anyone has any info on it, it'll be great.

Did that to begin with bought a aluminum battery holder grounded the battery to it and another to the chassis where the spare would be. Battery holder has 8 bolts that mount in the trunk. Voltage would be 13.5 to 13.7 at idle and 14.1 to 14.2 at highway speeds. It always charged. Not a problem anymore. Wouldnt do it again though

If you're going to put it in the trunk, don't forget to keep a location in the engine bay for easy access to jump start the car if need be. Unless there is a hidden key location on my trunk I haven't found, it would be annoying to take down the rear seats and squirm back there to open the trunk to jump the car if the battery died.

Isn't there a safety pull in there? Could just use that to pop it when the battery is dead.

There is, but I don't want to take out a baby seat, drop the back seats, and try to crawl my 6'2 210lbs *** back there lol. Much easier to pop the hood and clamp on the jumpers I think. It happened in my last car. Cobalt SS with the battery in the trunk. It had a post in the engine bay.

I did it with the use of a braille batt and their battery mount...

Got Aircraft grade gauge 2 wire for the positive and 4 for the ground. Did the positive from the rear to the front and the ground i attached to the chassis and gave extra connections for a more balanced ground...

added a ground shut off for long storage...

Quick Reply: battery in the trunk.
