What RPM's are you guys slamming the gears down without lifting on the gas? Redline?

I've always been afraid of hurting my trans, or missing a gear somehow. (even though 2nd to third I turn my hand upside down)

Isn't this bad on the trans?

There's not benefit to no-lift if you know how to shift quickly and can synchronize your gas WOT with the engagement of the next gear. I didn't use the no-lift on my 1/4 run. Just gonna burn your clutch up or make missing a gear more likely.

There ya go. The no-lift benefit is mostly to boosted cars to prevent them from losing built up boost in between shifts. The newer V's have it programmed into the manual cars to allow them to maintain WOT without it bouncing off the limiter. Doing it in a N/A car is just asking for issues without any real increase in speed in the next gear. You want that clutch engaged and back to WOT as soon as possible, if it's slipping from no-liftin' it no bueno...

We all know its stressful as hell on our trannys to no lift shift, but its debated for years how long the trans will last. I'm around 180k miles on my stock t56, and I powershift quite a bit and its held up thus far.. I change my clutch fluid religiously, and change my trans fluid annually, and that seems to be working just fine. With that being said, Im not gonna advocate to use the powershift method when racing because the driver mod pendulum swings violently from one driver to the next; its definitely not for the novice driver.

I think everytime you no lift and succeed that's awesome I'm afraid of when you miss the gear and you just have that pedal mashed. Tranny is going to be stressed. Potential valve floating and pushrod bending for the engine. I daily drive mine so unless my pink is on the line I'm good with a normal power shift. Besides. If I do lose a race it just fires me up more to spend more money which we all know is fun

I hope you beat that 5.0

What does a typical stock V1 trap in similar DA? About 105-106.

Stock for stock the 5.0 wins every time if taking out driver error.

My modded V1 went 111-112mph and just barely took down a stone stock '12 5.0 6-speed car....for my car to go that mph it was making right at 400rwhp, so far from stock.

The '14 model makes even more power.
This man knows. Im running a ls3 heads on my ls2 10.4 static compression ratio. 219/230 .600 .600 117lsa cam with an CS 8.8 with an effective gear ratio of 3.49 running 12.70s at 112 mph. My buddys car is a 2013 5.0 3.31 gear ran 12.80s stock and went 12.50 on intake and tune.
V1 wont compete with that light weight and that gearing of the 5.0... keep in mind 5th is their 1:1 gear and 1 to 4 are strong

you ran 12.7 with a heads cam LS2 v1? I've beaten 5.0's already and I'm just headers.. Oh well.

12.709 @ 112.85. Keep in mind that 4200 ish lbs... 3.49 gear ratio. Lower compression to. My 05 I ran 13.6 all day at 106. You going from a dig or a roll? Look at V1 stats on the fastest V1 that are all motor. Fastest v1 stock cubes ran 12.711 since the last post. My car estimating 525 crank. Has dynoed 447 417 with out the 8.8 in it. My guess is they couldnt drive. Correct me if im wrong but with headers you may make 430 crank hp the 5.0s are 420 I think... 500 lbs difference... ls6 with headers may do 350 wheel in a V1. The 5.0s are making 370 to the wheels... I dont see with 20 less rwhp where your car 300 to 400 lbs more could keep up
