I was told those parts were not available. Do you have part numbers?

Randy, thanx for your concern . Weather was fine last night, not looking too good for the next few days though. I have a garage with steam pipes running through it, so it shouldn't be too bad.

What I found was expected ( thanx to those damn Brian guys lol)
It snapped leaving a chunk in the diff. Gonna be a PITA tonight cuz I need to move the car to get to the other axle.
On a positive note I made contact with someone that has an inner CV and I'm pretty sure he's local.
Gonna look it up now, but if anyone has a link for swapping CVs that would be great.

Carnage pics as requested lol

I know your feels. I've snapped 1 inner, and 2 outer so far in the last year. I'm talking with someone who does CVs for off-road performance vehicles for an upgrade. LOL

I have spare inners, and i just received my replacement outer today. I'll be up and running tomorrow, no less.

You actually got lucky that the car still moved under its own power.

Looks familiar lol. Did you have a hard time knocking out the broken piece?

Three blocks, coasting mostly, and she made it into the garage. When I tried to reposition the car the next day, it backed up and that's it.

Use a loooong skinny screwdriver to knock it out from the other side. It will be difficult to get the hog ring started into the splines.

When I broke my inner cv, I snapped it on the williamsburg bridge. I drove something like 3 miles to the UN building, where I could no longer move under my own power and had to get a tow truck and push the car by myself while the UN guards were thinking I was up to something funny. LOL

^ This. A long, skinny screwdriver because of the way the diff is set up. There's very little room. The skinniest and longest you can find will help with knocking that piece out. And then, drain the diff... because you'll have a ****-ton of glitter in it. LOL

Run a diff fluid for about a week, and then drain it again. There's gonna be lots of flakes in there.

Got the piece inside to move a bit but could not get it all the way out. Took off from work today and I'm gonna try to find a longer screwdriver. Otherwise I'll need to drop the diff.
UPS dropped off a couple quarts of Amsoil yesterday but I'll get some oil from pep boys to do the flush.

Two pieces of good news however. Odthetruth has an inner CV and he's local, so I'll have all the parts I need by Saturday. That and my garage is nice and warm so at least I'm comfortable lol

Need quick help. I knocked the piece out and am putting the pass side back together. How big should the gap be between the diff and axle? I banged it in pretty good but it seems like it should go in further, can't remember what it liked like before I pulled it out.
I can just about put an 8mm Allen key in there

Yeah, there is supposed to be some gap. You just need the hog ring or whatever Brian calls it, to snap in place. Try pulling on it to see if it's seated or if you knocked it past the groove.

Judging from the pictures I've seen online, I think I'm good. Right side of the car is back together, left side waiting for parts on Saturday. It's been a good day off

She's back on the road. I used a V6 axle until I figure out what to get.
The piece broke in two inside the diff and took me a couple days just to get it out. She's good now though, running like a top

Quick Reply: Axle popped out, or is something broken?
