PSA - Fuel Module/Harness Recall (N140405) is now actionable
#123
I gotta crawl under the car tomorrow, my B&B exhaust is way to close to the chassis and vibrates once in a while. It didn't do this before i dropped it off, hopefully they didn't half *** something under there.

Everything seems better than before. Car runs a little smoother, throttle response seems crisper. I'm very happy with how this was handled. I was told that I may have been the first in Vegas to have this done, and that they were going to order more parts so that it was ready to go for others.
Hth someone.

When I tried to explain how to complete my recall work the dealer would need to drill a hole and install a return bulkhead fitting, plug the OEM return bulkhead, and disassemble and reinstall my Aeromotive 340 pump into the new factory bucket... the service manager just gave a blank stare and asked if I would like to come pick up the parts and do the work myself. I said SOLD!!
So for anybody has not already seen pics, here they are.
What I received are two harnesses, and a new pump module.
Harness: 15921830
Harness: 23307781
Module: 19330301 (AC Delco # M100163)
New bulkhead connector:

I bet the dealer billed GM for the hours on your car when they gave you the parts. Does your VIN show as recall complete ?
Where is the level sender on that module ? People are reporting erratic gauges after the swap.

Yes they said my car would show as having the recall complete. I haven't done the swap yet, but about a year ago I replaced my bucket with a new one so I had my original sitting in a box so I took a few pics. With my access panel under the seat, I can swap the pumps in about 1.5hrs. But I'm afraid the tank will have to be pulled to get the harnesses in there.
I'm wanting to do an 8.8 later this year so I'll probably just do it then.

The fuel level assembly you remove from your old bucket and put it on the new one.
BAP and Hotwire guys can either trust that the new assembly will eliminate any melting concerns and use the connection on top of the bucket as usual (I will, I run the Hotwire kit), or go aftermarket like with Racetronix and upgrade to their bulkhead wiring kit which bypasses the factory connector.

Nice that they gave you the parts. I'm doing mine on my own too. I'm just going to use the racetronix hotwire kit and their universal 4 way bulkhead wiring. Totally bypass the factory bulkhead connector. From my understanding of the hotwire kit the power load is removed from the factory wiring, it only plugs into the factory plug for the sending unit stuff. I cut my access hole last night and my factory connections look brand new, so I'm not to worried about it.

I just got my car back from the dealership. Took them almost 2 weeks to complete the work. Luckily I was given a rental car for the time but unluckily it was a piece of crap 2.0 ATS non turbo...I could probably run faster than that thing. You never realize how much joy a fast car brings to your life until it is taken away

dropped mine off at the dealer this am. Nice people but... first they tell me they can't give me the parts to do it myself or else cadillac won't pay them. Ok, I understand that. Then they call and say cadillac expects them to return an old module with the used pump and, since I've replaced the factory pump, they need to keep my walboro 255 unless I can come up with my old fuel pump (which I did). Then they call me and tell me they're not touching it, I can have the parts, but have to bring back the current bucket with some fuel pump in it. At first they were ok with the AN return line and the hotwire kit. I think that they still have to drop the tank to do the new wiring and to do that on my car, they'd need to mess with the 0/1 battery cable coming from the trunk around the edge of the tank. That was too much for them. Cool w/ me.

I posted this a few pages back from when I started the recall process
"I called my local Cadillac dealership to make an appointment and first they told me that i'd have to bring in my car to get inspected and they would decide if I needed the replacement even though they confirmed that I had a recall open. This seemed odd to me so I asked if GM would tell me the same thing if I called them to confirm and they said yes. Needless to say I called GM and they didn't tell me that, they said the dealership had to service the recall no matter what. GM then called the dealership while I was on hold and the dealership told GM that I needed to bring my car in so they can see which part it was (apparently there is more than one part number for the fuel pump module?) and then they'd have to order it and then i'd have to bring my car again for the actual replacement once the part arrived. The GM lady I spoke to agreed that this was a waste of my time to have to drop my car off twice and she is trying to get a hold of some sort of manager at that dealership to see why they require me to make two trips and don't have the part(s) on hand. This is pretty much where I stand now, GM called me today saying they were unable to get a hold of the manger today so I am waiting for a call back on Monday with an update."
Once they called me back with an appointment date they told me it would have to be a week away while the parts got delivered to the dealership so when i'd bring my car in the parts would be there waiting. The day comes, I drop my car off and they give me a rental for 4 days they said it would take about that long and I just figured they were busy. On the 5th day I call and they told me something happened with the parts that they had not arrived yet and although the tracking info said in transit, it had been like that for a while. long story short, it ended up taking nearly 2 weeks for them to receive the parts. I figure they just waited till my car showed up, then ordered the parts. Next time there is a recall, I will avoid Williamson Caddilac in Miami.
