The lines of the original hood Extreme Composites made is perfect. It just gave no clearance. Implement the clearance with aesthetics and it is gold.

That's why I thought if you just raised the middle more or made a smooth cowl it would look good.

I believe the measurements have been taken but the cowl actually needs to start further forward than the V2 hood, the V1 needs the front clearance more than ever..

Might want to tripple check before ordering a hood that doesn't fix the problem.

Very true. My throttle body has as much clearance issues as the EForce blower itself.

I haven't seen this discussed, and I haven't looked at the car yet so I'm not sure of the feasibility, but could we run front cradle spacers like the corvette guys do to gain 1/2"? that may allow a little more creativity with the hood design.

That would be called a body lift.

We could go a couple of inches and put BFG all terrains on it like the shelby fast and loud boy has....think of, add a small push bar on it...Urban assault vehicle!

A straight cowl induction hood is going to look like **** on a V1 and still give no additional clearance where it's needed.

Why would it not give extra clearance? Isn't the clearance needed in the middle of the hood towards the front? Also thanks for your opinion but if done right it may not look that bad.

Having owned a couple of retired police cars, you come to appreciate their curb hopping capacities. A death race version of a v1 has crossed my mind.

Their original design looks great bc it follows the lines of the original hood, just as the STS-V. Since the hood natively slopes inward from the fenders to the center of the hood, it can only be raised so much at the very front where we need clearance for the throttle body. This is why the V2 hood is designed as it is.

To have a fiberglass hood with the clearance we need, it'll have to start off looking like an 8" cowl hood on a 5.0. The fiberglass needs the reinforcement more so than the OE metal hood where we cut out some of the reinforcement ribs around the throttle body.

The only was to get what we need without it looking retarded is for it to look like a V2/ZL-1 style hood.

I wounder if a taller version of the ATS-V R hood would work. If it did I think they would sell like hotcakes. You likely can't go as deep as this one but even so this is a looker.

after looking at the profile picture of that ATS-V, I don't understand how that hood is even possible on that car. It looks like the engine has to be riding shotgun!

Anyone else have any photoshop skills they could test fit a hood on a V1? Just curious. I am not against a v2 style on a v1.

This pic got posted on the custom hood poll thread a while back. A little bulky looking, but closest I have seen other than playing with photoshop. Something like this, but refined.
