Default sloppy shifter 04 cts-V

I just got my first cts-v its an 04 with 80k on it. the shifter is very sloppy and hard to get in rev. is it just needing new bushings or better off just getting a short shifter ? if so what's the best company's to go with.
thanks

You need this. It removes all the slop associated with the shifter itself. What's left is from a plastic bushing and ball & socket joint at the trans end of the center linkage bar. Both require removal of the trans to fix.

As a new V owner...what would make you think you could come here to Ls1tech and ask questions about your car ?

You can't. Someone at some point in the past has already had the discussion.

Unless you have a question that's never been answered before around here...you're outa luck buddy.

Try the other V site. They don't mind talking to you about your new V...even though the discussions you wish to have are "old news" for long-time V owners.

There's a used domestic v8 solutions shifter for sale in the classifieds. It's nowhere near as good as the Hurst.

Funny combo, you'll find more tech data here but less activity and patience. On CF, you'll find more patience, less data, and even more drama. Both have their uses.

Any short shifter will be a nice improvement. I just bought the Creative Steel piece.

Make sure you replace the requisite mounts: the ones in the CS mega deal.

Also make sure you replace the trans fluid and the clutch fluid. Both will help.

You have a few options. I too went with Creative Steel's, but buddy had a Hurst and liked it as well. Creative Steel is a great company to deal with, there are others too, but I have nothing but good experience with them for everything I've ordered.

I run the Hurst and really like it. It helps a lot with finding gears. Sometimes the transmission mount sagging makes it hard to get into reverse too. My mount was pretty bad, but instead of getting a new one i used the revshift insert. I have never tried any other vendors shifters, or trans mounts so I cant comment on those.

A spoon in a plate of spaghetti makes for a better shifter than a tired stocker. Pick one, buy it, put it in, revel in how much it improves.....cry because there is still some to go.....fix that when you do your clutch. If you have a stock shifter, you probably have a stock clutch......guess what, that will probably fail next. Start searching.
