Default cam/timing chain/degreeing questons Lq9 L92. E85

Hello,
I have my motor apart and all my parts ordered for my motor. I have a lq9 short block and I will be running L92 Heads. I am installing a comp cam. Same cam in the carcraft magazine this combo was famous in.

Cam is 54-428-11 and the specs are Gross valve lift .571 int. 573 ex.
Cam installed
110 intake centerline
Duration @ .050 228 intake 230 exhaust 112 lobe seperation

My timing chain is a Comp Cam double roller 7102 part number. From the intstructions it looks like I can advance or retard up to 8 degrees.
Ill be degreeing my cam to make sure it matches my cam card, but Ill be running MSD 6ls with a jetted up 750 double pumper on e85.

Should I even advance the cam at all with this setup or just put it in and run it. The shortblock is stock other than cam, timing chain, and im running as-cast l92 heads w/ .600 lift springs. .051 head gaskets.

The motor will be in a 2500-2600 lb s-10 with a glide and a 8" 5500 stall converter. It is a quarter mile only truck with no or limited street time. I want the maximum amount of power possible.

So my questions are what should I install the crank sprocket at? And if I go too aggressive with the crank advancement I know Ill have to check ptv, but when Im switching pills to get a different tune, will that change ptv or create any other issues?

I know someone else on here has to be running a very similar combo and just looking to soak up some knowledge. Thanks alot for any help I can get.

As I understand advancing the cam gives more torque...retard the cam for more top end.
Since this is a "track only" truck, I would retard it some (to start).

This will change your PTV so ALWAYS check.

I'd run it strait up to start. I would also get some .040" head gaskets to maximize compression for the E85.
You can always advance the cam later if you feel it needs help in the low end, however, I would take the time to mock it up advanced and retarded to make sure it has P2V clearance now, before it goes into the truck.

With your combo and intended usage, I would put it in at the cam grinders specification. Then you will have a comparative baseline for tweaks in the future.

I would start at 110. I have the same cam in at 112, but my car weighs 2200 w/driver and my converter goes to 6300. lq4,ls3 heads,750alkycarb.

Did you have any valve clearance issues? Are you running releif pistons (lq4) or flat tops? Also what kind of et are you getting? My setup is pretty similar it sounds like, accept for little more weight/little less stall.

No piston to valve problems. Have mahle lq4 flat tops with notches for cathedral heads. My heads have been cut .080 everything else stock. Has been as quick as 5.73@118 in the 1/8th usually goes 80's.
