Oh no, if it was a ol smokey 350, yea. SAE 40 is about the max I run in a LS from the scrap yard.

99 model...arent there issues using newer style transmissions with the crank that was used on the early 6.0 engines? iron or aluminum heads?

Since hr is using a th400 with a th400 torque converter he will be fine. No crank spaced needed for converter pilot like newer ls engines

Think about throwing a set of scat rods in this other engine? I broke a stock rod not to long ago.

No, if I was to install rods, I would just rebuild the existing engine. Which will happen anyway.

Not yet, have not even pulled it. I think I will hit the 4.8 efi swap in the 96 S10 first. My mom needs a dependable ride, then I will yank the TA back apart.

Here is the damage report, number 1 and 3 starved of oil the worst. The number 1 kissed the exhaust valve from so much bearing loss. Should be fine, just enough to knock past the carbon build up. Barely nicked the piston dish and lip.
