Default Help me decide what to do about my transmission

Ok. Ive started a new project. Its gonna be light weight and wicked on a budget. 2500lbs or less. I have a LQ4 that im gonna mill the heads and fly cut the pistons for a huge cam. I already have a 4l80 tranny but I have been a gear jammer since birth. I put a straight drive transmission in every hotrod that ive ever done. Heres the problem, money wise. Im gonna have to buy a controller for the trans which is $550 plus at least a 4000 stall thats gonna be a minimum of $800. That's $1,350 without even opening the tranny up and freshening it up. Should I sale the tranny and try and source a T56 or TKO. Or is it gonna be 6 one way or half a dozen the other? What would yall do?

Light car. And with a 4k stall I'm assuming not much street driving.

I think a glide would be for you or perhaps an old cheap and dumb th350/400

Mostly street driving. What some people think is not streetable I think is awesome. Its not a everyday driver by no means but it'll be ****. Im deffinatley not using a dummy transmission. At least a manual valve body 4L80 or a 5 or 6 speed.

This box makes the 4L80E full manual and lockup works by toggling a ground wire.
