So i have an idea, i just received my 6010 box today for my project and while reading through the little handout they give you i read this. "When plotting a timing curve there must NOT be a timing module installed. Power-up with a module installed will over ride the saved timing plot". So the question.

Does this mean you could take all the timing pills supplied to you, hook up the comp, leave a pill in the box, make a curve, save it, power up the box, OVER RIDE onto the pill and so on? That way you can just sit down the night before with the comp make up 6 curves going from a baseline of lets say 31*. Then make 3 going higher and 3 going lower and seeing what happens? Or does it not work way? Because that would be pretty sweet, i think anyway.

Now Im afraid to do a back to back at 34* and 29* next time out, because I don't want to get pre ignition at 34* ! Anyway, I think the traction will be straightened out before next time, I hope! LOL.

We found that when DCR gets above 8.6:1, 12:1 SCR, we had engine knock @ part throttle around peak torque & higher in the RPM @ WOT on 93 Octane. This occurred with timing that produced no knock when DCR was below 8.6:1 on 93 Octane. There are other variables involved, as well. However, if you are below 8.6:1 DCR, I wouldn't be that concerned about trying more timing.

Not a full pass at 38*, but you can see it slowed.
I'm at 34-35* now where it ET'd/MPH's best.

Attachment 469494
with that i would start at 34 and try 33 and 35. 34 looks like the money for those passes. even though you dont have a full run on 38*, you can see your 1/8 mph is dropping consistantly after you go past 34*

LS1-450. what are you using to measure detonation on a carbed setup?

never seen that. My converter is above my torque peak so i'm not going to worry about it

I think if you time it for best MPH and keep an eye on the plugs, you will be in good shape.

5FOX3, I have 18 different tunes saved in my lap top. 9 are set up like I normally set the peaks and valley, starting at 26*, and going to 34*. I have 9 more that are the same as the other 9, except they pull 5 to 6* out from 2000 rpms, up to 4500 rpms. I set the last 9 just in case I had issues with hooking with my short sidewall 275-40-17 NTO5Rs. That way I can kill a little TQ right off the converter if I cant get them to bite. I suck at feathering the throttle! My brain has a on/off switch at the track for some reason. Im either all in or coasting, so I let the MSD to the hard part, LOL.
