fuel pumps?
Is there a thread already on fuel pumps for a carbed setup? I'm in the process of installing new suspension in my C10 and the new coilovers and brackets mount where I had the Carter pump. It looks like I'm gonna have to run an inline canister style pump inside the frame rails. Is there a reasonably priced inline pump out there? So much for working on a budget.
Here's how the Carter was mounted.
Here's what I'm dealing with now.

You can't just move that pump back 6-10 inches?
Lots of opinions on in line pumps, too many choices really. Probably the most recommended model on this site is Aeromotive street and strip, but that isn't what I call a budget pump. That carter you have gets good reviews for being quiet and reliable, but not many guys seem to run that. Holley makes a bunch of different colored pumps, pumps of color I guess is the modern term, with reviews saying they work to saying they are the worst POS's ever made. Not sure why.
I ran a generic Summit brand pump for awhile. Worked as well as a much more expensive Mallory unit. If you look at on line catalogs I think fuel pumps all come from the same factory in China than Holley and Edlebrock and Summit all put their label on it. Just get a summit unit around the flow rate you need and call it good.

Sorry for the lack of response to this thread. As it turns out, the fuel tank had a broken baffle. I took it to Rob MacGregor at NoLimit. He fixed the baffling and I also had him add an in-tank pump. It's a Walbro pump made for the 87-95 GM TBI trucks. It only pushes about 15lbs, but I still have to run a bypass regulator, so I'm now on the search for which regulator to use. The cool part is if I ever want to convert to EFI, a simple pump change is all I need to do.
I couldn't move the pump back any without it getting too close to the exhaust routing. As for HP, it's basically still a stock LS1 with a mild cam, so probably around 400-450ish.
