Best 98-02 platform for a project
I'm shopping around for a 98-02 camaro I would like a manual. I'm wondering what is the best year to get? Any concerns with traction control and abs I do not want to fight another stupid computer for control. Thank you

out of those years, the only biggie i know is that 01 and 02 had the ls6 intake, which upped power/torque some, but also responds more to future mods than ls1 intake. im sure theres more diffs

Depends on how serious you plan on getting.
Stay away from 98. The ECM is crap and its the early style ls1, crappy rod bolts n all. I vote for 01/02. 99/00 had older software on the ecm as well. And the obvious LS6 intake manifold on the later years. But again, depends on your plans. If you plan on going bigger better motor, intake, etc etc. just be sure to stay away from 98.

Your abs/traction control shouldnt matter much.. I personally deleted ABS on my street car since i'll never drive it in the rain let alone being in AZ. And mine didnt have traction control. The traction control deal is all up to you whether you want it or not. Just adds more ****. I use the gas pedal as traction control. With ABS and traction control deleted it opens up room for rear diffs whether you find a good deal on a 3 or 4 channel rear end. Without abs or t/c you can run either 3 or 4 channel.
