2000 Camaro SS Pro-Touring build recommendations
I am looking for recommendations on what I need to do to build a nice Camaro SS Pro-touring style car. It is a low mile 100% stock black, six speed SS that I plan to build into an awesome street cruiser/track/strip car and would appreciate any ideas from people that have built their own cars. I plan to use old school Cragar SS or American racing 17 inch wheels in place of the stock wheels. Any suspension, engine or rear end recommendations would be appreciated to get me started. I have no time frame on the project, just having fun with my son on this one. Thank you all in advance. FLY ARMY.

Hey, welcome to LS1tech.
First make sure to use the search function before asking questions about specific parts (just about everything has been covered a thousand times over), if you cannot find your answer then ask. Next make sure to check the stickies, there is some very useful information in them.

Finally, suspension-wise Ill give you my recommendation:

You will not find a better "off the shelf" handling suspension setup for our cars, period. If you want to go with custom coilovers like KW, Penskie, or race bilstiens you can further fine tune but at a much higher cost. Other cheaper coilovers for our cars like the new Vikings, QA1, Strange, Afco are all drag shocks (even if some are labeled as "handling") and cannot hold a candle to a proper shock like the Konis. Which, I should mention that good shocks will be the biggest improvement you can do to these cars, and will make or break the rest of the setup. Springs and swaybars will make the next biggest improvement, suspension-wise, then the watts link I posted. Everything else suspension/chassis wise is miniscule in comparison, including chassis bracing like SFC's, and should be put off until last, if at all IMO.
Another note, common noob mistakes: stay away from poly bushings in things like control arms as they will bind. And staggered wheels/tires are not ideal for handling for these cars (they like square setups). Also drilled brake rotors are good for looks but not for actual braking, stay with quality blank rotors and good pads.
