Default HVAC Firewall penetration location

Hello Camaro Nuts! I just spent 2 days trying to fix my heater control and the main problem was the firewall penetration grommet for the hvac. This car is an 02 that has 36k miles. I've replaced virtually every rubber vacuum fitting due to dryrot, and 2nd to the air dirvirter valve, this was the hardest vacuum leak to find.

Passenger upper firewall hvac firewall vacuum penetration. The circled line feeds vacuum to the interior HVAC controls.

Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue!

I hope you're still subscribed to this thread you started. My grommet has been chewed by a rodent and I need to replace the grommet. When I remove the damaged grommet, is there a tube on the other side of the firewall that will fall down? I understand this junction meets the vacuum line under the hood to the HVAC mode selector in the dash. My fear is that when I remove/dig out the damaged grommet, the line on the dash side of the firewall will fall down inside the dash.
