Are you talking about cutting the flanges off the BBC header and making your own flange to bolt to the head? I think there are pre-made flanges from GM and you could just weld them onto the BBC headers with a little work.

Dont know about big block chevys but small block fords are just about the easiest headers in the world to adapt to work on the ls1. You just cut off the ford flanges, use a pipe shaper (big cone shaped thing) to make the primaries round and then they slip right into ls1 header flanges.

Or you could probably use the headers that they make to put ls1s in Rx7s. They are basically longtubes that just hug the block and tranny. I would expect you to have more room everywhere in a 67 camaro, in comparison to an Rx7 engine bay

sounds like it would be a cheap way to make headers fit. I would like to try.

The big block headers were designed to have the engine offset 2" to the passenger side to clear the steering box. Your TH400 crossmember is offset 2" too. I would imagine that the headers wouldnt fit since you would be shifting the engine over 2" to center it which means those headers designed to clear the steering box are now closer. I know the ls1 is smaller but by how much? I just think its a bit iffy.

You know that Hooker makes headers that do fit for like $550 with gaskets and hardware. Actually ALOT of places do make them. The only reason i can see for using them is to try to save money in which case i would use the small block ford headers as mentioned.
